And it works quite well with FA 50 mm f/1.4 in bokeh, color and sharpness. The DOF range becomes very thin and it makes focusing a bit difficult but the AF is working like before. I am surprised with the result.
Impressions:
- Adapter allows the FA 50 f/1.4 to auto meter and auto focus like before, which is the nicest thing to use with a fast prime.
- DOF is narrower once mounted but the AF in FA 50 f/1.4 along with trap focus works as usual
- Magnification goes from 1:6 to 1:3 after with the adapter mounted
- Adapter is like a UV filter to add in front of the lens, extremely portable to bring along
- Very convenient to use as compared to extension tubes or 2x macro adapter that fits in between camera body and lens
- CA and purple fringes are noted in wide open aperture, but there seems minimal light loss if any. I manage to use the adapter in wide open aperture with the 50mm prime
Where to buy
- Thanks to CLM in PF for the link. It only cost $20, it is well worth the cost. It is to be discussed if the Promaster is the same as the Cosina adapter that I use
