Rightly deserves the Tamron adaptall-2 p/ka adapter
I tried out few test shots in wide aperture and normal use. I was blown away with great bokeh, sharpness and ease of use with the lens. It is no doubt quite heavy but I see it as second nature when a lens can offer outstanding image quality at wide aperture. I will hopefully study the lens and share with my friends soon.

Impressions & Notes
- This is the best manual focus zoom lens that I have ever used.
- I consider myself extremely lucky and not shy away from the heavy weight.
- I will test more and update my impressions.
- I am so far blown away with image quality and build of this zoom lens. It is in another class by itself in the SP adaptall-2 lens collection.

Hin, Everything I have ever read on this lens is positive. I look forward to reading more of your findings.
Could you post a photo of the lens attached to the camera? I would like to see a reference to the size. Also, what is an adaptall??
That bokeh in that first shot is creamy... oh my...
@Javier, much thanks for the visit and comment. I am nuts about the new toy. I wish I have your muscular arms and I am all set for the heavier setup
@Somanna, though the lens is heavy, it is not too big. It is roughly the size of the DA* 50-135mm with bigger filter size in 77mm. But it is much heavier than the DA* zoom. I will hopefully post a comparison picture later.
@Somanna, I was wrong about its size. The lens is much bigger than the DA* 50-135mm when I put them next to each other. What was I thinking?
Nice to know that the (cheap) Canon 3rd party tripod ring fit the Tamron. I think it's the one for the Canon 70-200mm f/4 L. Is their quality acceptable for sporadic, non professional use or just a waste of money?
It is good that you ask. That tripod ring is extremely good with the Tamron lens. I bought it based on my findings that it works with Pentax FA* 300mm f/4.5 and I hope it works with my F* 300mm f/4.5. It doesn't work on my F* 300mm as it is a bit bigger than the len barrel. With the Tamron, it is a bit tight but still manage to close down for a tight fit. The tripod actually help me to stabilize my use with the heavy lens in a strange way. I will recommend that tripod to others but the size may not fit to all lenses mentioned.
Got a copy of this lens recently. But from 80-100mm, it can not focus to infinity. Does yours have the same problem? Thanks.
BTW, I confirm that this is a fantastic lens in terms of image quality. For sure more test is needed.
Mine does not have any problem with infinity focus in 80-100mm range. Please do check if your adaptall-2 adapter can work without issues if you happen to have another adaptall-2 lens. A recent shoot that I did with Bunnies and Cats
